Temporary Works & Enablement Projects

Access Platform, Larne Harbour, Co. Antrim

Client: Woodburn Engineering / McLaughlin & Harvey PLC

Structural design and analysis of remedial works access platform. The platform provided access for the contractor to repair a damaged fender at the P & O berth. Access to the work site was very limited, physically and also very limited in working time due to the location of the fender across a narrow walkway and tide and ferry docking times. The access solution permitted the working platform to be quickly installed and removed giving the repair crews the longest possible time carrying out the works.

Tower crane base, Stormont Parliment Buildings, Belfast

Client: Tracey Brothers Ltd.

Ballasted tower crane base on spread foundations. The tower crane was required as part of the re-roofing contract and was to be positioned as close as possible to the rear of Parliment Buildings to ensure it permitted access to as much of the roof as possible. Following assessment of the existing ground conditions and proximity to a basement wall and services, the base was placed within 600mm of the rear wall and cast at ground level to permit quick removal once the contract is complete.
